MTSU Library's
Off-Campus Authentication Service.

Certain electronic databases and other resources offered by MTSU Library are restricted by license agreement to current MTSU students, faculty, and staff. Students not actively attending classes in the Summer term are not considered active. In order to access those resources from off-campus, you must login. Please enter your MTSU Pipeline account userid and password. For additional help please see below.

NOTE: This is a change in user authentication. Your MTSU webmail userID and password is no longer used for authentication. You must use your Pipeline userID and password. This is the userID and password you used to register for classes. Due to license restrictions only currently enrolled students, faculty and staff may access these restricted resources.

Be aware that access to the databases may not appear to be as fast as it seems to be from on-campus. There are a number of factors that influence the speed of your connection to the database you have selected. Your response time may depend on:
1. ...the time of day (afternoons are particularly slow, since everyone in the country seems to be on the net right then.)
2. ...the speed of your Internet Service Provider. If your ISP is congested with tons of users all trying to hit the net at the same time, your response time is going to suffer.
3. ...the speed of MTSU Library's internet connection. MTSU has more than 1,000 student access computers on campus, many of which are trying to hit on the internet at the same time. MTSU's total enrollment is over 22,000, of which a significant fraction of you are accessing these databases through this proxy server from off campus. Again, afternoons are the worst time. Please try to make allowances.
4. ...the speed of the database vendor's connection to the internet. MTSU is not the only university that is trying to access these databases. There are universities and research centers all over the world who subscribe to these databases, and their users are just as eager to access the data as you are. The more people trying to hit Lexis-Nexis at the same time, the slower your response time will be. That's the nature of the web.
